HIV and COVID-19: Clinical Considerations for Health Care Professionals in Canada
Hosted by: Canadian Association for HIV Research

Date recorded: April 15, 2020
Date aired: April 20, 2020
Given the rapidly evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been little research and clinical observation on the impact of the virus on HIV-positive people. As such, the Canadian Association for HIV Research (CAHR) hosted an educational webinar that featured a panel of infectious disease clinicians and pharmacists, and highlighted clinical considerations when treating HIV-positive patients suffering (or at risk of contracting) COVID-19.
The presentation (in English) touched upon the following areas:
- Origins of COVID-19, why it is highly transmissible, and the current Canadian context
- Critical questions and considerations for clinicians in the HIV realm
- Examples of treatment strategies being implemented across Canada
