The Canadian Foundation for Infectious Diseases (CFID) and the Canadian Association for HIV Research (CAHR) are pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Professional Development Workshop for Infectious Disease Researchers. Co-chaired by Drs. Curtis Cooper (University of Ottawa) and Keith Fowke (University of Manitoba), this mid-career focussed workshop will cover a range of topics including: mentorship, leadership, academic promotion, commercialization, building networks, and alternative career paths.
Registration will be open to basic and clinical scientists engaged in infectious disease research. Epidemiologists are also encouraged to apply.
Applicants must:
- Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed immigrants
- Have a research focus in infectious diseases (including but not limited to HIV, HBC, HCV, COVID-19, CMV, HSV, EBV, Ebola virus, Zika virus, influenza virus)
- Have held an academic appointment or a position as an independent researcher for 3 to 12 years at a Canadian institution

Event details are as follows:
Dates: Wednesday October 25 – Friday October 27, 2023.
Sessions will run from Wednesday afternoon to Friday at noon.
Location: Delta Okanagan Resort, Kelowna, BC
Cost: Registration for the workshop is $200. This includes up to three nights’ accommodation at the Delta Okanagan, all workshop materials, and food throughout the meeting. *Note that participants will be expected to cover their own travel costs to and from the meeting*
