Mid-Career ID Workshop

In partnership with the Canadian Foundation for Infectious Diseases (CFID) and CIHR’s Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) and HIV/AIDS Research Initiative, CAHR is pleased to announce that registration is now open for the Professional Development Workshop for Infectious Disease Researchers. This mid-career focussed workshop will cover a range of topics including: academic leadership, commercializing research, building consortiums and networks, and communicating effectively with decision-makers, etc.

This workshop will be co-chaired by Drs. Curtis Cooper (University of Ottawa), John Boyd (University of British Columbia) and Keith Fowke (University of Manitoba).

Registration will be open to basic and clinical scientists engaged in infectious disease research. Epidemiologists are also encouraged to apply.  Individuals wishing to attend the Workshop must apply through CAHR.

Applicants must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a landed immigrant
  • Have a focus in infectious disease research
  • Have held an academic appointment or a position as an independent researcher for 3 to 12 years at a Canadian institution

Applications must be submitted online, and are due Friday, January 31, 2020.

Event details are as follows:

Dates: Wednesday, March 25 – Friday, March 27, 2020.

Sessions will run from Wednesday afternoon to Friday at noon.

Location: Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, Vancouver, BC.

Cost: Registration for the workshop is $200. This includes three nights’ accommodation at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, all workshop materials, and food throughout the meeting. *Note that participants will be expected to cover their own travel costs to and from the meeting*

About CAHR

With a membership of more than 1,000 researchers and others interested in HIV research, the Canadian Association for HIV Research (CAHR) is the leading organization of HIV/AIDS researchers in Canada. CAHR is the organizing body for the Annual Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research (CAHR Conference).

CAHR encourages Canadian researchers to be leaders in knowledge translation and to effectively respond both to the Canadian and global HIV/AIDS epidemics.
