What’s new for CAHR 2018?

CAHR is pleased to announce that there are a number of new and exciting changes at this year’s Conference. These changes were made in response to feedback from our members and past Conference evaluations. It is our hope that these changes better align the Conference structure with the current needs of HIV/AIDS researchers in Canada and the face of the epidemic.

Changes for 2018 include:

  • More abstract sessions: Over the last several years, the number of abstracts submitted has steadily increased. To reflect this positive trend, an additional oral abstract session has been added to the program that will take place Sunday morning. This will increase the number of oral presentations by 25%, will allow for more cutting edge research to be presented, and will make Sunday’s program more vibrant and interesting!
  • A greater focus on key populations: CAHR is committed to increasing its focus on key populations. As such, CAHR will dedicate one abstract session, and will offer one New Investigator award for the best oral abstract presented in this new category. The focus of this new 2018 session will be announced in the call for abstracts.
  • Waiving of registration fees for community members: Beginning in 2018, CAHR will increase the number of FREE community registration scholarships by nearly 500%! This increase will ensure that those who can best utilize the knowledge gained from attending the Conference can do so at no charge. Community members wishing to attend the Conference will be required to apply for a scholarship.

Thank you for your continued feedback. CAHR will continue to work to improve its Conference model in the years ahead.

Dr. Curtis Cooper
CAHR President
