The Vienna Declaration
2010-06-30The International AIDS Society and the BC Centre of Excellence in HIV/AIDS are launching a project known as the “Vienna Declaration” to coincide with the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria. Drafted by a team of international experts and initiated by leading HIV and drug policy scientific bodies, the proposed declaration stresses that conventional policies on illicit drugs have failed to achieve their intended objectives and that evidence-based public health approaches are urgently needed. It is seeking endorsements from organizations, physicians, academics, affected communities and the general public.
